9. Bayreuther Finanzmarktsymposium: Crypto currencies – legal and economic perspectives
Am 19. November 2021 fand das gemeinsam von der Forschungsstelle für Bankrecht und Bankpolitik und der Forschungsstelle CoCapT organisierte 9. Bayreuther Finanzmarktsymposium zum Thema „Crypto currencies – legal and economic perspectives“ statt. Zugeschaltet waren mehr als 70 Professoren, Doktoranden, Studierende und Experten aus der Finanzpraxis.
Dr. Ulrich Bindseil (EZB) stellte in seinem Vortrag die Pläne für einen digitalen Euro vor und betrachtete Kryptowährungen aus der Zentralbankperspektive. Rok Žvelc (DG FISMA, Europäische Kommission) präsentierte den Kommissionsvorschlag für eine Verordnung über Märkte für Kryptowerte (MiCAR) sowie den Kommissionsvorschlag für ein Pilotregime für DLT-basierte Marktinfrastrukturen. Prof. Christian Catalini (Diem Association) setzte sich in seinem Vortrag mit Stablecoins, Interoperabilität und Wettbewerb auseinander.
Anschließend diskutierten die drei Referenten mit den Teilnehmern angeregt über die rechtlichen und wirtschaftlichen Chancen und Herausforderungen im Bereich Kryptowährungen und digitales Zentralbankgeld.

On 19 November 2021, the research institute for banking law and bank politics and the research institute CoCapT jointly organised the 9th Bayreuth Financial Markets Symposium on „Crypto currencies – legal and economic perspectives“. More than 70 professors, Ph.D. students, students and experts in the field were in attendance.
Dr. Ulrich Bindseil (ECP) presented the plans for a digital Euro and looked at crypto currencies from a central bank perspective. Rok Žvelc (DG FISMA, European Commission) presented the Commission’s proposal for a Regulation on Markets in Crypto-assets (MiCAR) and the Commission’s proposal on a pilot regime market infrastructures based on DLT. Prof. Christian Catalini (Diem Association) talked about stablecoins, interoperability and competition.
Afterwards, the three speakers discussed the legal and economic opportunities and challenges in the field of cryptocurrencies and digital central bank money with the participants.
